With almost 15 years under my belt, I pride myself in being adept in everything from basic to advanced coloring techniques and the most intricate principles behind hair design. I nurture my abilities through various avenues such as seminars, classes, webinars, and textbooks--anything I can wrap my brain around to bring my clients what they demand. I have always loved to learn, find I am fueled by a passion to create and succeed.
My latest areas of expertise are concentrated in specialty hair painting techniques such as Balayage (a French method of custom-painting highlights for a natural sun kissed effect) and the super trendy Ombré color effects sported by countless celebrities. Along with color, one of my biggest pasions is applying and maintaining hair extensions seamlessly and naturally. The stunning transformations I can create in just a couple of hours have often been life-changing for many of my clients, and so very rewarding for me knowing I have given someone the confidence they were seeking. Dry, coarse frizz? I can take care of that with a retexturing treament to tame even the most unruly locks.
MASTER OF CRAFT & OWNER
Over the years, my career has taken me across the country and afforded me the chance to receive training from renowned stylists such as "What Not to Wear" stylist Nick Arrojo, Candy Shaw, Beth Minardi, Guy Tang, and Tabatha Coffee. I've also worked with many local publications such as Portico, Birmingham Magazine, B-Metro, Southern Beauty magazine (contributing editor and editorial stylist), and was selected by the Perfect Wedding Guide to style Melissa Rycroft.
I'd have to say the biggest motivation for choosing this profession is instilling confidence in and inspiring people. I not only treasure the relationships I form with my clients, but also the relationships I develop with their hair. Each one is special, and must be nurtured and cultivated just like any other relationship. I have always had a very strong conviction when it comes to taking care of my clients. Without the client, the hairdresser would have no reason to be behind the chair, so I try to make each client know that they are valuable and appreciated.
To say that I love what I do would be an understatement. I love the art and beauty that comes with being a hairstylist. I believe that a person’s image is most influential in how one is perceived by the world, and hair is one of the most important facets of that image. I take pride and joy in making sure my clients always look their best.
Since I began my career in 1995, I have been granted amazing opportunities and experiences traveling the world as an artistic educator and platform artist for companies such as Pureology, Paul Brown, Thermafuse, and Schwarzkopf Professional. This allowed me a truly creative perspective and access to priceless knowledge I continue to draw from behind my chair on a daily basis.
Since 2012, I have been most fortunate to work as team lead stylist for two motion pictures, “October Baby (2012),” and “Grace Unplugged (2013),” both of which were filmed locally in Alabama. Again, the knowledge and experience afforded to me behind the scenes helped to mold me into the consummate professional I am now.
Someone once said to me “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” That statement has held true for the past 21 years in this industry. I truly love what I do, and the bonds I form with my clients when they visit me. I look forward to making your time at GLAM memorable and your hair unforgettable.
"Visited my favorite hairdresser, Shaun Thomas at his fab salon last night to get my wild and wooly mop under control and the master worked his magic! Love the new Moroccan Oil Smooth treatment too!"
Connie Brown, Client
“Shaun has managed to always take my hair from average looking to receiving daily compliments! Anyone who can take me from dark brunette to almost platinum blonde and still have it look natural and never damaged is a great stylist! I always LOVE my hair."
Kyle Pugh, Client
